HISTORIC: Mexico Baseball Beats USA And Heads To Olympics For First Time Ever

HISTORIC: Mexico Baseball Beats USA And Heads To Olympics For First Time Ever

Mexico snatches Olympics-qualifying spot from the jaws of defeat, beating USA 3-2.

After an epic home run against the US, Mexico's national baseball team will compete for an Olympic medal for the first time in the history of the sport.

The United States was just 3 outs from winning the Premier12 qualifying game and securing a coveted spot in the Olympic baseball tournament, when Mexico knocked it out of the park, literally.

With the US up 2-1 at the bottom of the 9th inning, Mexico's Olympic dreams seemed to be slipping away.

That's when Mexican-American Matt Clark hit an epic home run, knocking the ball out of the park, tying the game, and sending the teams into an extra inning.

"Biggest homer I’ve hit in my career," he tweeted. "This one is for you Mexico! Thank you for taking this Pocho in with open arms."

With Mexico controlling the bases, Efrén Navarro sealed the Aztec win with a walk-off single in the 10th.

With the Mexican team's historic win, they snagged not only a spot on the Premier12 podium, but, for the first time in history, a spot in the 6-team Olympic Baseball Tournament, along with Japan, South Korea, and Israel.

Whether the 2020 Olympics are postponed or held elsewhere, la selección mexicana will be there, dándole a toda madre.

Felicidades, suerte, y que viva la raza!
