Drugs & Crime Enter U.S. Thru LEGAL Ports Of Entry, Not Empty Border

Almost all heroine, meth, and cocaine enters through LEGAL ports of entry

Trump continues to claim his proposed $6 billion border wall is the only way to stop drugs, criminals, and "terrorists" from pouring into the U.S.

First, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) reports that almost all illegal drugs are smuggled into the U.S. through official border crossings, NOT across the empty borderland.

Secondly, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the majority of undocumented immigrants actually entered the country legally, often by plane, and then overstayed their visas - again, not across empty borderland.

So, even if undocumented immigrants responsible for high crime rates throughout the nation...a wall would not stop them getting in.

(However, as studies have already shown, undocumented immigrants are actually associated with decreased crime rates.)

Finally, although Trump & his admin claim that thousands of terrorists are crossing into the U.S. through the southern border, Trump's own State Department issued a report in September saying that there were no cases of terrorists crossing the border from Mexico, and no evidence of any terrorist groups even operating in there

(A White House intelligence report actually concluded that cyber attacks are the top threat to national security.)

So, according to Trump's own government agencies, a giant southern border wall won't make our nation safer, and shutting down the government over it is unjustifiable.  Hundreds of thousands of federal employees are going without paychecks - including the men and women who man our borders.

Want less illegal immigration?  Don't waste our resources on a wall that won't work, use them to better equip our existing border security and interior enforcement.  And, hey, crazy idea, create a more accessible pathway to legal immigration for those that can and will contribute to our nation.
