This Aspiring Mexican Model Shows You Don't Need Two Legs To Be A Beauty

Maripaz Romero Galindo was born with not just one, but two rare congenital conditions, one of which required the amputation of her left leg as a child.  But Maripaz hasn't let her prosthetic limb slow her down.

Maripaz (nicknamed Maripazita) was born with proximal femoral focal deficiency and hypoplasia of the upper limb, which basically means that one leg was significantly larger than the other, while one of her arms is noticeably smaller.

The Mexican native was raised in Nuevo León, but regularly travels to Houston's Shriners Hospital for Children, where she has been a patient since she was 3 years old.

The now 19-year-old aspiring model and university student will soon be fitted for a new prosthetic limb that matches her current height. A Shriners Hospital spokesman said Maripaz used to wear clothes that hid her prosthetic, but modeling has boosted her confidence.

Her goal with modeling is to boost the self-esteem of those with disabilities by showing the world that belleza comes in different shapes and forms.

Maripaz is studying Education and plans to be a teacher, as well as found an organization to help provide care and guidance for kids with disabilities.

Earlier this year, Maripaz told a local Houston paper:

"People can accomplish anything if they love themselves...We need to learn to accept that not everyone in the world is the same."

With or without the prosthetic, Maripaz is a beauty, inside and out.  Órale Mari, puro pa delante.
