The Mexican delegation that participated at the 48th Olympiad international physics (IPhO) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, will return to the country with five bronze medals.
In contrast to last year, in which there were only four honorable mentions, this time Mexico rallied.
Recognized Mexicans were Greece Castelazo Martinez (Jalisco), Oliver Vicente Garcia Esparza (Jalisco), Oscar saved Chacon (Nuevo León), Erasmo Hinojosa Sáenz (Nuevo León) and Mauricio Leonardo Rosas Gómez (city of Mexico), all-level high school.
The IPhO, which was held from 16 to 24 July, is an annual competition in which high school students in around 90 countries take different examinations during two days. One day the competition is dedicated to theoretical problems (three problems of duration of five hours, involving at least four areas of Physics); and another day is spent on experimental problems (one or two problems to solve in five hours).
