Latino Barista Receives Over $60K In Tips For Standing Up To Mask-Refusing Karen

Lenin Gutierrez has received over $67,000 in "Tips For Standing Up To A San Diego Karen"

Starbucks barista Lenin Gutierrez stood his ground against a cursing San Diego Karen, declining to serve her after she refused to wear a mask.

The Karen tried to "expose" him on Facebook. Instead, she was "exposed," while Gutierrez has received an outpouring of support, and tens of thousands of dollars.

A San Diego Karen's attempt to "expose" a Starbucks employee has backfired, hard.

Earlier this week, Amber Lynn Gilles posted to Facebook, "Meet lenen from Starbucks who refused to serve me cause I’m not wearing a mask. Next time I will wait for c0ps and bring a medical exemption."

Instead of being outraged at the barista's behavior, most commenters were outraged at hers, with tens of thousands of people expressing their support for the barista, Lenin Gutierrez

In a video response he posted to Facebook, Gutierrez said he was working the front register when Gilles walked in without a face mask, which is against Starbucks policy and state guidelines.

Gutierrez said he asked Gilles if she had a mask and she replied that she didn't need one, then started to curse at him and call the other patrons "sheep."

Michael Cowan, one of the commenters on Gilles' post, set up a GoFundMe virtual tip jar to raise money "for Lenin for his honorable effort standing his ground when faced with a Karen in the wild." The campaign has so far raised over $67,000.

In his video, Lenin thanked the thousands who commented and donated for "all the love and support," and revealed that he will use the money make his dream of teaching dance to children a reality.

"From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much."

I’ve received numerous messages asking for my side of the story. Since this seems to be the most popular thread I decided to post my personal experience here. Thank you all for the love and support.

Thank you, Lenin, for standing your ground against entitlement, privilege, and ignorance.

To all the Karens in the wild, this is not your world anymore.

Stay safe. Wear a mask. Fight Karens.
