They Violently Assaulted An Elotera. Then They Got Street Justice.

"They f***** with the wrong elotera man there’s like 1k cholos looking for them rn."

An elotera was violently assaulted and robbed by two men on the streets of South Central. Now, those streets are serving up retribution.

A now viral video shows Amaris Mendez, an elotera in Los Angeles, preparing an elote for two customers when, seemingly out of nowhere, one of them viciously attacks her, putting her in a chokehold, while his accomplice tries to grab her bag.

Unable to snatch the purse out of her grip, the suspects run back to their getaway car - where another accomplice had been recording the whole incident.

At the end of the viral video is a recording of the suspects' Instagram Live, where they brag about "how many views" they got on their video of the attempted robbery.

"You see how many views we got?" one of the suspects says excitedly. "You know why we got that many views? Cuz the homie posted this video of us robbing this corn lady. The homie choked her," replies another.

But the suspects happy bragging quickly turned to fear.

An Instagram account called thefoocommunity published the suspects' address and put out a "green light" on them, offering $500 to the first person to catch them "slippin."

Meanwhile, members of the #foocommunity reached out to Amaris.

Bilingual L.A. rapper Swifty Blue and community activist El Memo Blaxicano brought the injured and still very shaken up elotera flowers and $1,000 in donations, which she received with tears of gratitude.

With the "green light" in full effect and the local Los Angeles community outraged, not just at the violence of the robbery, but at the targeting of a vulnerable undocumented woman on the grind and the callous social media bragging, it wasn't long before shots were fired.

Spooked by the shots or warned by associates, the suspects have moved and are now in hiding, according to Amaris.

But the "green light" is still in full effect, and the community is still angry and on alert.

A police report has been made and the "investigation is ongoing," but so far no arrests have been made.
