Mexican Boy Brings Home Gold, Setting New Record In Pan-American Swimming Cup

Raza breaking records and bringing home medals

Racing against competitors from across the western hemisphere, 12-year-old Gael Moreno brought home 4 medals and broke the 100m backstroke record.

Gael Moreno Sarmiento's standout performance at this year's Swimming Union of the Americas Cup in Lima earned the 12-year-old from Tamaulipas, Mexico four medals and new record.

Gael's specialty is the backstroke, for which the tamaulipeco won two individual gold medals, taking out the 50m in 30.36 seconds and eating up the 100m in just 1:05.52, breaking the previous record held by a swimmer from Trinidad and Tobago

Gael also won two silver team medals, beating out competitors from all over the western hemisphere, including USA, Central and South America, and the Caribbean.
