Telenovela Star Edith González Dies At 54
Telenovela treasure Edith González has passed away after a three-year battle with ovarian cancer.
From Salomé to Doña Bárbara Edith González is one of the most recognizable faces on Latin American television.
My heart is broken over the passing of one of my fave actresses- Edith Gonzalez. She was a legendary actress and I’ll miss seeing her on my screen. The passion, strength, beauty and resilience she could convey with just one look is unparalleled by Mexico’s current “stars” RIP ❤️ pic.twitter.com/wb3JNrM8Cj— Pantywise, The Dancing Clown (@Sequins4Thought) June 13, 2019
Edith, born in 1964, appeared in her first telenovela, Cosa Juzgada, at just 5 years old.
Throughout her 5-decades long career in television, she has featured and starred in more than 40 telenovelas, some of the most famous of which include Los ricos también lloran, Rosa salvaje, Nunca te olvidaré, and Corazón Salvaje.
Edith made her ovarian cancer diagnosis public in 2016. She stepped back from television and film, but her public appearances and interviews were a testament to her strength, resilience, and positivity.
Despite her brave battle, Edith passed away in the early hours of June 13th at just 54-years-old. She is survived by husband Lorenzo Lazo Margáin and 14-year-old daughter Constanza.
Rest in peace.
