"Soy orgullosamente Zacatecana": Ángela Aguilar named Artistic & Cultural Representative of Zacatecas
"Soy orgullosamente Zacatecana."
At just 15-years-old, the youngest of the Aguilar dynasty is already a Grammy-nominated star in her own right. Now she will use that fame to represent Zacatecas around the world.
Antonio Aguilar, the patriarch of the family, was born in Zacatecas, and though Angela and her father and siblings were born in the states, they grew up on the ranch in Zacatecas. Son Zacatecanos de corazón.
“Aquí fue donde aprendí a hablar, caminar y hasta a cantar; más que nada aprendí a sentirme orgullosa de donde vengo y yo soy orgullosamente zacatecana."
"Here is where I learned to talk, walk, and even sing; more than anything else, I learned to be proud of where I come from, and I am proud to be Zacatecana," said Ángela during the naming ceremony in the capital city of Zacatecas.
Hundreds of fans packed into Plaza Miguel Auza to witness the event, applauding hugely as she received the title and begging her to sing.
The ranchera royal graciously obliged, singing three songs accompanied by mariachi.
Ángela, who joins her family on tour with Jaripeo Sin Fronteras 2019 which kicks off this month, will be the face of Zacatecas' new tourism campaign, "Enamora Zacatecas."
