Chicharito Donates Jerseys To Help Domestic Workers

Chicharito sent Yalitza an autographed jersey, but she won't be hanging it up on her wall.

The jersey will be auctioned off to raise funds to support domestic workers.

There are millions of domestic workers across Mexico who are treated almost as indentured servants, working long hours for little pay and no benefits, not merely disrespected, but often physically or sexually abused.

Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández has joined the ROMATÓN movement, a campaign to help domestic workers receive fair treatment and wages.  The fúbolista donated autographed jerseys to Roma's star, Yalitza Aparicio, and director, Alfonso Cuarón, who took to social media to express their thanks.

In response, Chicharito tweeted:

"Me dio mucho orgullo colaborar con esta excelente iniciativa y poder hacer algo positivo por la gente de mi México: ¡Muchas gracias @alfonsocuaron y al @westhanespanol, me encantó poder ayudar."

The jerseys, which, in addition to Chicharito's autograph, feature the message "Roma Nos Une" on the back, will be auctioned off to raise funds for organizations that help domestic workers.

If you can't bet on one of these jerseys at auction, you can donate to the National Domestic Workers Alliance HERE.
