Lyft Gives Free Rides To Latinos Whose Only Polling Place Was Moved Outside City
Strangely, Dodge City officials moved the majority-Latino city's ONLY polling place outside city limits, to a remote location with no access to public transportation.
While most Kansas towns have a population of 1,200, Dodge City has a majority-Latino population of almost 30K.
Dodge City Latinos could have a real effect on the outcome of the midterm election - if they can get out to vote.
Fortunately, Lyft came through for us. Partnering with Voto Latino, Steve Madden, and Johnnie Walker, Lyft is offering free rides to the polling place on Election Day (Tuesday, November 6th).
#DodgeCity #Kansas, is a Latinx -majority city that has had it’s ONLY polling location moved outside of city limits w/out access by public transportation.— Voto Latino (@votolatino) October 21, 2018

Lyft declared that it is committed to "helping people exercise their right to vote", and will provide 50% off rides across the country on Election Day, as well as "free rides to underserved communities that face significant obstacles to transportation."
Over 15 million people cited transportation as their primary barrier to voting in the 2016 election — that’s why we’re introducing The Ride to Vote.
